Not sure the budget for your update, but painting cabinets and replacing knobs can really change the look in the kitchen.

Yes that's a pantry which is the only thing I want to keep bad yes that's the stairs to the side door and basement

We plan to replace the cabinets for sure too!

Agree. If this is a demo project, there's so many more ideas than just updating the look. A kitchen pro designer will be able to give you tons of advice to maximize space after looking at your dimensions. Good luck - projects like this are fun!!

Hey, I agree, you have to hire someone etc etc but I think what would make your kitchen read larger is if you straightened out your lines. Right now there's a door oushing out in the corner, the pantry door pushing in, a fairly useless peninsula, a lone cabinet toward the table. It's all a bit bumpy. ..... so lose the peninsula, pull out the pantry door flush with cabinet, put the ref. where the lone cabinet is, center the stove on that wall, with two good landing counter tops on either side. See attached sketch, tried to guestimate your floor plan using the floor tiles but I know it's off here and there. Good luck with your project!
