French door dilemma

I have a french door in a small foyer area, the front door and another door is white with white trim, plus stair has white posts. Question is, I really would like to stain the french door but do you think it is best to paint white. I thought staining it will make it richer and deeper. Originally thinking a walnut or cherry stain

Thank you all for your input!! The black does sound great but the entire house is the oak flooring, the black would not flow. As much as I wanted to stain the door! the white is the best option, you all helped me finalize my answer!!! Thank you!!

With your paint color, I can see why you want to stain it; however, I think with all of the other blond wood I'm seeing in this picture that it would end up giving you a cluttered feel. I vote to paint it white, 100%.

Think about painting it black... Research 'black interior doors' on Houzz. And if you can add another touch of black - couple of picture frames? - to pull it together... Stunning!

Yes, white would be preferable. I would agree with staining the stairs and railings but then I notice that you have some type of wood area without a railing opposite the stairs. Can you tell me what that is? I thought it might be flooring but without the railing and at the angle of the pic, I'm not sure what that is exactly.

White keeps the doors consistant in the foyer. I do like Maureen's idea above of a black rail. Maybe do ebony stained wood on steps. That way wood grain would show through!

I think if you want to paint your doors black, you could paint the actual doors black, but please leave the trim white, and paint the trim on the french doors white as well.
