If you are looking to jazz up the shelves our glue up Hammered tiles in Oil Rubbed Bronze would create some nice contrast as a backer to the shelving. I do not mind the shelving, I think they should be moved from where they are now because they overpower the TV a bit.

Would you remove the shelving from the wall completely or put them next to each other and move to one side of the tv?

measure your new furniture on the longest wall (where the tv is now) and consider moving the tv to the 10' wall. The towers are too tall to flank the current tv and stand and the dark wood demands attention. Do you have a photo of new furniture you are considering?

Somehow I think of this bedroom when I see your three mirrors. The center of that mirror grouping should measure 5' above the floor. Curtains need to hang floor to ceiling with rods extended so they can be pulled back to expose the window yet just cover the trim. Try the towers on the wall where you have the sofa table. Use the sofa table with the new furniture, but please steer clear of brown or black leather. It is a man cave look that will not be easy to decorate around. Two chairs and a sofa will be most flexible to work with. Paint your air vents to match the wall color.

Decoenthusiaste - I got the mirror idea from that picture! I was told to get leather because we have small children. I would rather get something lighter though. Would the sofa table look okay under the mirrors? Also, what colors go with bleeker beige? I love color, but I'm scared to buy art and get sick of it. I'm not a fan of red.

Move the table under the mirrors and then you'll want to squeeze the arrangement into a triangle. The table should be 25% wider than the mirror arrangement. Beige is so neutral that most colors work with it. Orange is a good one.

Does the TV have to stay on the current wall? What rooms are to the left and right of the black desk?

One thing that I think would significantly improve your space would be to raise and widen (or at min just widen) your curtain rods so that the curtain panels frame rather than cover your windows. I like grommet top curtains just because they lay so nicely. If you want color, curtains are an easy way to brighten your space without much commitment. Er612, what do you think of the changes I made? If you are facing the wall with the console table, to the left is the foyer and the right is an open space that leads into the kitchen. Your layout design is fairly accurate.

I actually really like your changes. LOVE the towers together! I'm hesitant to do anything to the walls until you move the new furniture into the room. After you expand your curtains, you'll still have quite a bit of wall space between the windows. You could try moving the tiered hutch from the foyer to between the windows. Did you like the curtains I sent? If not, I'm not offended. Just let me know what colors you like and I'll give you options.

Thanks for all your help! Yes, I liked the curtains you sent. That wall goes into my kitchen where I have a sliding door & another window so wouldn't I need to buy the same curtains for all windows? They're all currently white. I like green, navy & gray & white.
I extended the curtains & moved the tiered hutch in between the windows. The legs broke though so I had to prop it up with an ottoman in the meantime. We ordered a sofa, 2 oversized chairs & 2 ottomans today that will be delivered on Saturday. In the photo, I
hadn't extended the curtains yet, but they're now around 11" from the mirrors.

Once you get your curtains raised, I think you'll need the towers to be on the opposite wall to provide a visual counter balance to the height that will create.

Much better but the windows still seem a bit weighted down. Another reason I like grommet curtains is you can extend the rod without having to move the brackets. This also makes the brackets less visible (just leave one grommet outside the bracket when hanging - see below). Regardless I think you should extend the curtains to the ceiling (or close to it). Once the new panels are in place, you may need to move the mirrors if it's too tight. If you move them, try hanging them on the wall behind your new sofa or vertically on the wall where the hutch previously sat. Are the pillows included with your new sofa?
