Amazing. In Charlotte, NC, my son tries to keep it from swallowing his garden. It easily gets to 8' x8'. It is quite lovely with heavy bloom over a long season.

I think the size of your pot helps you to bonsai it, too, altorama. Fortunately, Mutabilis is a VERY durable, vigorous and opportunistic rose! I have seen it cover the end of a 20' X 20' apartment building wall in San Jose, CA. Here, you "prune" it with a machete. No kidding.

On one of these warm, moist mornings, go out and rub the peduncles, stems, sepals and hips (if you've permitted any) and smell either your fingers or the plant parts. You should notice a very sweet, peppery scent. Quite nice! Kim

Don't be so sure it won't get bigger, Alto! I rooted a cutting in June of 2012. This was what it looked like in April or 2013 when it came out of winter protection in it's one gallon pot.

I potted it up to a larger pot on May 7th and this is what it looked like by May 19th, one month out of winter protection.

And this is it on July 22nd. It has not been out of bloom all season and is growing like a weed!

I think I'm going to have to find well protected roomy spot to plant it soon!

Wow, that's really grown!!

Here's my Mutabilis. As you can see, she's climbed thru the holly to the roof line. She was a band six years ago (and the holly was a lot smaller, too). People stop to stare at her.

Mine is in a 20-something inch pot. It's the biggest I'm willing to struggle with moving. It's about twice the size of Altorama's, so do think about moving it into something larger.

Love the elephunk

I have a baby Mutabilis too. I am going to plant it in my butterfly garden, since it's knows as the butterfly rose. So far in my yard in a pot it has not shown any blackspot even without being sprayed. I hope my gets very large.

I bought Mutabilis as a body-bag...I was so shocked to find it like that, that I couldn't resist. It was ragged-looking and I had no great hopes, but even like that, it doubled in size within a month, and at this point, still in a pot, it has quadrupled. My coastal zone 8 is warm in winter terms, but our summer temperatures are cool, so it's not like this crazy growth has been due to heat and constant sunshine. This rose has ambition, to say the least.
