Stop scratching!!! That only spreads the problem. Each little bite has toxins in it and when you scratch you spread the poisen. You are probably going to have to go to the doctor for an allergy remedy stronger than those sold over the counter.

I just move to TX from CA. It sure does sound EXACTLY like the chigger bites I get on my hands and ankles! OMG they itch like CRAZZYYYY. Not everyone gets biten as badly as I do. PJ

This sounds like chiggers. In olden days, we called them "red-bugs." The only thing I've found that helps is to dip a Q-tip in a little Clorox (full strength) and touch the bite with it. I find that if it doesn't kill the mite with the first application, the second will.

I should be an expert, by now, on chiggers. They love me. I can go berry-picking with friends, and no one gets them except me. I can brush by a single tall blade of native grass, and the chiggers jump on me. Some people seem immune to them.

It does help to wear knee-high rubber boots and thick socks.

They really like to chew behind your knee, in the groin area, under elastic waist bands and bras, and under arms.

Once I had them so bad, they were from head to toe, and I could not sleep at night. Without enough sleep, it brought on a bad allergy attack. I was on the verge of going to the hospital.

There's an ointment sold at WalMart which is called something like 'Chigger-X' anti-itch cream (it's primarily benzocaine) and seems work nicely.

Personally I use Scratchex Flea & Tick Shampoo--shower with the dog, scrub us both and rinse well. (Then boot the dog out and shower normally...LOL!)

Try straight ammonia. Burns like hell, but it's the only thing that saves me from mosquito bite itch.
