I have osteoarthritis in my right hip and lower back from a motorcycle accident. I do most of my gardening in pots because it hurts to use a shovel. I had pots on tables of various heights. Now I live in a basement and I have less
gardening space since I don't have a yard. But when I did, I generally made raised areas near the walkway or series of pots of things along the walk and on the patio. It was a lot more pleasant to garden that way.

I have osteoarthritis in my knees and hips, mainly on the right side and the right knee. Part of this stems from three seperate accidents when I was 6, 13 and 25. I do have
nerve damage and doctors still are not decided if in addition to this I have MS.

Some, but few, days I am almost normal but other days I am hardly able to move, let along walk. I use one or two canes depending on how I am that day.

Pain and stiffness and loss of motor skills are old friends.
I have yet to find a medication that works. Done vioxx, celebrex, steriods and the whole 9 yards. It don't work people. My best relief comes from a super hot bath, the kind most people can't take (110 degrees or slightly more) and plain old aspirin. I have taken demerol and morphine.

The main key is keep tryin! Don't give up. Where there is a will there is a way!!!

Alot of people have osteoarthritis worse than I have or other forms of arthritis. What kills me is to see little kids with it. so sad :-(

I am totally disabled by arthritis. I was declared 100% disabled in '95 and use my farm and garden activites to keep me moving.
