Prairie Lace is not a faureii hybrid. It is the hybridization of L. indica and L. faureii that give Crape myrtles superior disease resistance. I've never utilized Prairie Lace and never would for this reason. There are so many attractive, resistant crosses out there.

The acoma crepe myrtle will make a great small tree only if you prune it that way. Otherwise, it will grow into a shrub (very wide...as wide as it is tall). To make a tree, you need to prune the branches that grow outwards, leaving the branches which grow upwards like a trunk!

How many do you need? I have 16 "small" plants growing along the street and you are welcome to them. They are watermelon pink in color. The momma plants aren't mildew proof but they do well.

I was told a tip by an older gardener in my area: If you trim the dead blooms (deadhead) off the plants you will get another wave of blooms. I tried this last year and was very pleased with the results. When all my neighbor's trees were just green - mine had more blooms!
