March is Going out Like a Lion

I thought March was supposed to go out like a lamb but it is far from than around the Dothan area. We have had terrible thunder, lightening, and rain.

I do know this rain is good for the new plants and the newly transplanted ones.

Sure was noisy. March was going out more like a rock band or marching band....

It still is. We have the thunder just rolling and the rain is coming down. Supposed to be this way tomorrow on April 1. What an April Fools Day.

The storms and thunder just don't stop. We had hail on Wednesday which was part of big storms rolling in. They stop intermittently but seem to keep returning. Our rain gauge had 6 inches yesterday afternoon.

Well, gardening Alabama friends,(and others of course) more rain today and tonight - so what doesn't drown will get blown away tomorrow with 20-30mph winds. What crazy weather. plus "they" are predicting 37 degrees tomorrow night - in APRIL!! I guess its a good thing I haven't had time to plant most of what I want to plant! Diane

14 inches in the rain gauge here in Lillian over the past 24 hrs. And still raining. However we did have a break over Easter when the children were down. Enough beach time for everyone to get more then enough sun. Grand children got a lesson on the use of Aloe, from the garden. It sure do thunder in these here parts. :-)

Pensacola is up to 13" and counting. There were rivers in my yard I've never seen before (likely because of the landscape change created by our friend ivan). This rain washed away my entire herb bed in just a few hours -- I mean totally gone. So I'll be off to get seeds (and more garden soil) this afternoon when (if) it stops raining.

I guess I need to figure out where the river is coming from and do what I can to redirect for future storms -- anyone else have this problem?

It could have been worse though -- so I'm thankful for what's left.

Rain, rain, rain!!! It's noon and it just slacked up enough for me to go outside (since noon yesterday) and the water is standing in the back side of the garden. We had a 14 in. downpour and 45 mile per hour winds during the night. I have a 75 pound dog and the water in the NE corner was about half way up to the top of his back (16 inches. He was loving it! My storage garage has water standing on the dirt floor...I don't think it will hurt my 'garden junk' too much though! LOL

Just checked the weather again and it still says 37 degrees for Saturday night! Please, please be wrong! Pots are already floating in water - don't need the cold too! 14 inches in Lillian!? Wow - really don't know how much we have had here in Evergreen. I am blessed with a yard that drains really good so don't have any rivers running through the yard. Good luck to everyone. Diane

Hi All, We are having such strange weather, I've never seen anything like it.
My yard is standing in water every where, the large ditch in front yard full of water.
My poor seedlings are sitting in water, are worse gone.
I sure hope we don't have a freeze at this crucial time in our gardening.

The rain has finally moved on and the sun is breaking through for short periods of time. Thank goodness.
