The berries are ripe

I don't know if they're blackberries or black raspberries or what, but they're everywhere and we picked the first ripe ones yesterday evening. I molested them a bit with a whisk, then stirred in some sugar and put in frige. After dinner we had ice cream covered with the macerated berries. Mmmmm! If you can't fight 'em, eat 'em!

Blackberries.
Was down visiting family in Wetumpka 16-18 Apr. BIL said they'd already picked a couple gallons of blackberries. Heck, mine up here in the frigid northland were just blooming about then.
Don't know that I ever saw a raspberry, in the wild, in central AL when I was growing up roaming the fields and woods there.

Yes, several people have told me they are blackberries. Still picking every few days, but slowing down. Had berry pancakes yesterday. Mmmm!

jny, I don't know where you are but here, just a few miles north of the FL border, the blackberries are done already. Figs will be ready soon.
