I have Ice Cream, Raja Puri, Musa Basjoos and two unknown varities. My Ice Cream and Basjoos are fairly tall with large trunks. All are new plants except for the Raja and one of the unknown varity so this will be my first winter for most of my trees.I have no desire to dig them up but rather cut them down,fence and mulch over. I need details as to the timing,cut height and preping the trunk. What I read last year in this thread was great advice but did not cover the details. Other threads seem to pertain to the northern climates.

Last year I cut my Raja's down and mulched the night of our first frost. Well they kept growing. I think I read later I should have let the frost hit them first and then cut and mulch. What works best in our zone ? Also, can Basjoo's be left as is in our zone or do they need to be winterized also ? Thanks for any advice!
