Since everything is so dry, I would wait until late winter, such as March when we usually get rain. If you transplant them now, and if we were to have a hard freeze in Dec, Jan or Feb, the roots might freeze in loose soil. If you transplant in March, we are less likely to have a hard freeze which will freeze the ground (with the exception of 5 degrees on March 13,14,15 1993) and we (hopefully) will get plenty rain.
