You might try contacting someone like Dixondale or Harvest Moon since they sell the seed and ask for growing tips for your zone. I know that I grew the Borettana (sp?) type this year and they were a long day variety that I don't think will work in your neck of the woods so I think that you'll have to choose a type of cippolini that works first and go from there.

I've been experimenting with long day, short day, and intermediate day varieties, trying to find short day varieties I cm grow fall though spring. I've found at my latitude, they don't reach the size I like until early summer. I've gotten seeds from "growitalian. com" (aka Seeds From Italy), and I think " Irish Eyes and a Touch of Garlic".
