I am not familiar with this type of onion but with those instructions, you might want to try winter sowing. There is a forum here if you aren't familiar with it. I had some success with it last year. I used a lot of milk jugs to make mini greenhouses which set outside all winter. Then the seeds sprouted when it was warm enough. You could always do half that way and half the way the instructions state and see which works best.

Spread the seeds where you want them to grow next year. Sprinkle just a little soil over them and forget them. Keep weeds and grass away from that area as the seedlings can't stand crowding. Once you get them established, you'll have so many popping up everywhere else that you'll wonder why you ever pampered them!

You can also divide any cluster of plants now. There may be a half dozen or so plants but only one blooming. Then plant the individual bulbs or plants.

Martin, remember those nodding onion seeds you sent me a few years ago? I scattered those where I wanted them to grow and forgot all about them. This year they made quite a nice display for the 1st time. I love em!!

Just got a small pot of native Nodding Onion, they seem like a N. American version of A. tuberosum. Bloom in late Summer except the flowers are relaxed and hang downward? Seeds spread on their own easily? As invasive as the Chinese Chives? Are there cultivars?

I read it is edible like chives, then on the other hand I read that nobody really eats it.
