I'll raise both hands!! I keep finding envelopes and folded sheets of paper with seeds in them, and I have absolutely NO idea what they are.

I should do the same as you - throw 'em in a pot and see what comes up.

Mine is a little more difficult. I inherited all my aunts gardening stuff when she passed, including all of her saved seeds.... the problem is stuff has been mixed together and not labeled-- or labeled in shorthand.
I found some seed pods and I have NO idea what they are.

Where is this seed site dorisl? I need help.

beck_wi - just Google seed site + uk and it'll show up. I think the website address is www.theseedsite.co.uk. It has some great photos of seeds plus tons of other botanical information.
I'm a compulsive seed saver but also just as compulsive about labeling so I won't raise my hand. I may on the rare occasion set some seeds down in the garage without labeling them but usually there's some plant material with them that allows me to identify them.

I have a plastic cup of them. All kinds of daisy and rud seeds that I was not so sure I collected correctly. I just mixed them all together and plan to sprinkle them around everywhere :)

I won't raise my hand because I am complsive about labelling, but what does happen to is I misplace seeds!! Sturday night I was ready to sow some Japanese Eggplant seeds. I got them out and decided to read up about them. I believe I brought them and the gourd seeds down and set them on the desk next to the computer, while I looked up the info. Now I cannot find them. The gourd seeds were there and are sown but not the eggplant. Have been looking for them from Saturday night, all day Sunday and they can't be found. Really ticks me off!!

Northerner - do you have a pet that could have eaten them??? My dog will eat most anything - must be part goat.

I put things down all the time and forget where. I just found 4 seed packs in the garage. I must have meant to sow them at one time but did not :)

I think the seed cup of stuff I am not 100% sure what it is will get sown tonight.

    My daily schedule
    20% sleeping

    10% eating
50% looking for something I just had in my hand a second ago

Ha, ha, that's me all right. I have jugs marked U-1(unknown #1), US-1 (another unknown #1), and X-1 (for yet another unknown). Those are a series of jugs, some marked U, others US, and the last bunch X. Since I pull my jugs off the strings in the garage I never know what the marking will be on them from the years before and which jugs in the series (mabye U-3, U-7) were put in the recycle bin last year.

There are fewer of those unknown seeds for me this year as I collected fewer seeds away from home last fall.

As for mixing packets, a few weeks ago I searched all over the house and even cleaned my office while searching for a variety of tomato seeds. A week later I remembered that I decided not to get that variety of commercial seeds and would sow the o.p. ones I got in a swap. LOL, no wonder I couldn't find them!

Seeds are the one thing I don't misplace or muddle. Right now I have two plastic coupon organizers with alphabet tabs, one for flowers and one for vegetables, sitting together in one of my desk drawers. Everything gets labeled and filed on arrival. Seeds that spill out of packets get tossed into a "mystery mix" packet.

It's not genetic. My mom loves to give me pill bottles full of unlabeled seeds, and when I ask her what they are she shrugs - she has no idea.

On the other hand, I am constantly asking my sweetie to help me locate my cell phone and keys. Luckily I am so nearsighted the glasses stay on most of the time I am awake; once I take them off, I can't see them. 8-)
