I have several plants and they look OK. No buds yet, but everything in the garden seem late this year .

Years later -- I am planting this one after evil pillbugs/sowbugs ate my heirloom seed-grown squashes as baby seedlings. I found these at Yamaganis's, a local nursery with a flair for experimentation. I also got a couple of Italian heirloom squashes called Marina di Chioggia. If these plants survive bugs and late planting, I should have an interesting harvest this fall. Garlic Grower, I would be interested in knowing how yours turned out back in 2005.

This is one I'd like to grow as well. I did a bit of googlingon it to make sure it was BETTER than any other c. moschata, because I like to save pure seed. The moschatas don't usually cross-pollinate with the maximas, mixtas, or pepos.

Anyway, almost all of the reviews on this Kikuza I read said it was better than the standard for moschata, the Walter whatever butternut squash. So, I, too, want to grow this one.

How was it, though?

BTW, I have read, the Ambercup maxima, a hybrid, is the best tasting maxima. Since I try to only grow open-pollinated, the best of those maximas seems to be red kuri/potimarron, though one garden here swears the BLUE kuris (c. maxima) are even better in taste than the red kuri/potimarron.

Resurrecting a zombie thread to see whether anyone is still on the forum and to find out how the Kikuza turned out for them.

I also would be interested in any experiences with plant size/vine length and average productivity per plant.
