Sure looks like a 'George L Tabor'...which like most evergreen azaleas of commerce is derived from Asian species. (in that case, AN Asian species IIRC)
But, I'm sure there are a few lookalikes so don't quote me on that.
Not very hardy north of Richmond, in fact this post is a funny coincidence because I was about to go dig one up I believe did not become fully established this year. it will need to be if we have another cold winter.

At any rate, you are right it is beautiful. Perhaps the classic southern azalea of all time. I had one which could weather the typical winters here (am at the northern tip of the Ches. Bay) but a french drain failed and its location got too wet, it drowned. Now trying another in a very sheltered spot. A cold winter like the last would have killed it to the ground up here, but they were probably fine in Norfolk.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm in the Northern Neck of VA on the west side of Ches Bay, almost due east of Richmond. I've had this plant ever since I've been here (1976) and it is older than that. Never had any issues with cold or wet feet. It does get overgrown with poison ivy and other weeds and trees. Have not had any success with cuttings rooted either in potting soil with rootone or simply in water. Thanks again for the feedback.

'George Lindley Tabor' seems more common in the US, and 'Alphonse Anderson' possibly more common in the Commonwealth countries. UMN plantfinder shows 6 sources for 'Tabor' and none for Alphonse Anderson. Even Nuccio's doesn't list it.
