I think right now is the perfect time to dig this bamboo, From what I have read on this forum the bamboo is more dormant thanit will be in the Spring or Summer.

It seems to me the culms farthest away from the originating culms should be larger not smaller so I don't know about that. Could there be a difficency of water or some other nutrient? I don't know...

I have no problems digging bamboo in the spring and summer.If you are getting a nice sized sturdy ball I would not think you would have any problems if the bamboo is not subjected to movement of the ball once it is planted[wind swaying the canes and moving roots not attached to new ground]or excessive drying

I am new to gardenweb and have a newer landscape to play with (only 2 years here). I live in Clemmons, on the Davidson Co. side and was wondering where this bamboo was? I am not from the area and am also looking for inexpensive nurseries/greenhouses. Myer's in Winston-Salem is the best I've found so far, but I've nearly bought out their selection already!
