P. Dulcis Question

I have a small P. Dulcis division that I have had in the ground since late spring 2004. No shoots came up in 04 which did not surprise me because of the late transplant. I was surprised when none came up in 2005 however. I should get some this year, shouldn't I? We have had a recent cold snap after a very warm Jan. so I do not expect any shoots still until late March or April, but as I walk the area around the Dulcis plant (up to an 8 foot radius), I am feeling a lot of large lumps under my feet that were not there before (no signs of gophers either). Could it be that this plant has been dormant for as long as it has while going crazy underground and will shoot like crazy this spring? Are the lumps I am feeling rhizomes? There is really only one culm above ground, and at times I thought this plant would not even make it. Am I going to be amazed this spring?
