Bamboo for slope stabilization?

Due to record rainfall in western Washington we have had several mudslides on the slope behind our home. The slides originate in the area of an underground spring that emerges mid-bank. The soil pushes out in this area and causes the bank above to collapse, i.e. this is originating with surface erosion. I am researching the possible use of Bamboo to soak up water and stabilize the soil.

Desired qualities are:

- Fast growing/spreading, invasive is OK

- Water sucking

- Deep rooted

- Able to grow in poor soil (with help/fertilizer)

- Evergreen so as to use water in winter when most needed

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. One concern, as mentioned, is the depth of the root structures.

Thanks,

-jay
