'Timber prees pocket guide to bamboos', and 'Taming the Dragon', are pretty good books. What you plant is more a matter of what appeals to you personally, and what is hardy in your area. It looks like your already off to a good start.

Thanks coltrane, for the book recommendations. I'll be running them down. Just wondering if anyone in my zone has a favorite that I have overlooked. Seems like all I can find others growing locally is yellow Groove.

The (hardier) Anderson clone of Moso bamboo does well for me.

inversa, yeah I've been studying the Needmore site. I appreciate the information they have there.
stevenj, your moso looks great. The snow really makes it stand out. How long have you had it?
Matt

I've had the moso for about 7 years; the pictured patch having been moved from another spot a few years ago. I've had regular moso freeze back a couple of times when younger, but not the 'Anderson'.
