Hi All,
My wife and I will be growing a screen of S. Fastuosa.
I need to contain it within the boundaries of the screen area. This is supposedly a less agressive spreader, but I still want to use a physical barrier. For my zone (7a - Virginia), how deep of a barrier should I go? Is 24" sufficent? If I used the plastic barriers, 40mm or 60mm (obviously more is better but if the 40 works well in this case that's what I'd like to use)?
One serious concern I have is: I know that all barrier eventually fail. But if the Fastuosa was able to go under a barrier, does that mean that the first shoot that escapes would be a great distance away, since the rhizome is coming from relatively deep underground?
Also, has anyone seen a clum shoot up through a plastic cover, such a the bottom of a pool....
Thanks,
-Jason
