Happy Easter to All !

17 years ago

Greetings and wishes for a Happy Easter,Everyone! I'm gonna sing you a little Easter Song.

Arise,O God, and shine!

In all Thy saving might

And prosper each design

To spread Thy glorious light;

Let healing streams of mercy flow

O'er all the Earth Thy Hippies grow!

That was good,eh? I thought I'd share this Hippeastrum Forest pic I borrowed from my buddy Maria.I believe that they are Supreme Garden en masse.

    A lovely little poem/prayer - thanks for sharing that! Hans - I too have purple/blue hyacinths on my table. Hurray for spring, even though some cold winds blow today - it will soon become warmer here - and things are greening up rather quickly nevertheless.

    Happy Easter, one and all!

    Just a few short days ago, we had snow on the ground, and this was the view from my window...

    {{gwi:397737}}

    And today, you can see the bulbs beginning to bloom and everything beginning to green up and grow...

    {{gwi:397740}}

    Has spring finally arrived? I certainly hope so!

    Happy Easter, and Happy Gardening!

    Happy Easter to you all crazy hippie lovers! Barb

    May the sun shine warm
    and the rain fall green
    and your flowers bloom
    in every color between
    the blue blue sky
    and the earth of stone
    and the rising of the sun
    and the setting of the moon

    And if it doesn't make sense, well, I Am totally tired! Been decorating our church all morning with flowers from my woods and fields, butterFlies and sky colored ribbons. The grave in the rock (Dome tent covered in grey fleece) will be empty and the land has exploded into the BLOOMING SPRING.

    MAY YOU ALL bloom where you are planted and your hippies do the same!

    Happy Easter!!! I had a great Cinnamon roll and colored hard boiled eggs at my in laws after the church service. Our daughter join us in for the fun.
    I am now just relaxing enjoying the rest of the day with my DH. I have two deformed holey pasadena buds opened today, some type of caterpillar eat through the buds, I've sprayed alcohol inside of holes.

    Wonderful photos, everyone! Thanks for the poolside pictures, Cindee! The blue water shows off Candy Floss nicely!

    I never would have figured you for a cowboy, Frank, but that's a very nice horse you have, there! Beautiful azaleas, too!

    Well, Easter is a time of rebirth, of renewal... let's hope spring decides to stay!

    Thank you Jodi, and thanks to all for the appreciation of the Easter pictures.
    As to my hyacinths I do regret, !vividly! that I did not purchase the entire remainder-of-stock, consisting of, at far as my fading memory allows, 6 or 7 specimens of that excellent cultivar which showed of purple buds at that moment I accidently perceived them when I was on my way to a local do-it-yourself-store (Diy market) in order to purchase, who will guess, items for the rejuvenation of my former appartment...
    Each of these hyacinths did bear two scapes! (from rather small bulbs). Considering this I believe that it is a rather modern hybrid. It is definitely not the more popular "Woodstock" - what do already tell me those pretty flowers which exhibit a higher degree of symmetry. Actually I do know, meanwhile, that I should have done well to acquire all of them, but now it too late; and in my location there are no hyacinths for sale any more.

    Cindee, I was thrilled about your special attention to my little pig. It is a very special kind of decorative animal, because, can you imagine, it has some electronics inside and it does OINK (rather loudly) and the nose holes will additionally emit an extremely bright light (from LEDs) when I press on that little silver button right upon its head - this hog is actually a keyring-pendant! (Snapshot will follow)

    Le voilà : (*giggling*)

  • 17 years ago

    How cute! Instead of an Easter Bunny, an Easter Pink Piggie! I can almost hear it oink! :-)

    While I didn't have much luck forcing Hyacinths in a pot last year, the blue Hyacinths in the garden are blooming very well! The pink ones did not reappear, and I think may have been a meal for a squirrel, if they eat those type of bulbs. Or, they may have simply died under ground.

    Hyacinths are very nice flowers, and smell lovely, but I dislike how they look as they fade... if I can find some bright colors, I may try more next year. Red would be nice... I wonder if I could find some in red...

    Wow! Can you imagine the work involved in keeping all those beauties fit and healthy?! What fantastic photos! A vast sea of color and wonder! It must smell heavenly in those greenhouses... just the scent of all those bulbs... I love the way greenhouses smell! Being there would be a wondrous assault on the senses!

    Thank you, Maria, for posting these great photos... and thanks to Paul for thinking about us at this time of year! Happy Easter, and Happy Spring to all!

    How beautiful!!! Can you imagine working there?

  • 17 years ago

    I can imagine working there... I'm afraid, however, that too much work with that many Hippeastrum bulbs might make it seem more like work than pleasure... and at some point, I'd probably begin to resent such a large number of bulbs to handle... or, maybe not... I think it all depends on how much a person loves bulbs! :-)
