Black Bamboo Question

We purchased our Bamboo a few months ago from a nursary. It seemed in great condition and even awarded us with a new shoot that has grown to 9' and now has beautiful leaves. However, the two older shoots had - and still have - brown tips. Will those older shoots eventually grow newer leaves?

yes, the first culms are a race to grow new leaves to catch the sun.

the older leaves with brown tips will be replaced, as long as the culm and branches are alive.

Once the new culms grow or abort, the new leaves on the older culms will push the old ones off. Continuous photosynthesis this way. The new leaves will appear as tightly rolled up needles in June or so where you live. A mature grove is almost like snowfall.
In the ground probably the best thing you can do is keep it mulched.

Brown tip leaves on bamboo can be a sign of over-watering (longitudinally curved leaves are a sign of underwatering). If you are over-watering, the new leaves will start getting brown tips, too.
