looks great! how did you protect them if you had to?

My protection methods varied between my differnt plants. This year I just bagged up mulched leaves in 55 gal drum liners(garbage bags) and tied around a few of my favorite bananas and covered with a black plastic tarp to keep them dry. These I had cut down to about 3ft high. I did nothing for my Basjoos other than throw a little extra pine mulch around them. Last year I built a chicken wire fence around them,filled with mulched leaves and covered with plastic.A lot of work. I got lazy this winter but also got lucky with the mild winter. My Basjoos kept pushing out leaves almost year round. Frost would kill them back and the next warm day new leaves would be pushing through.When I cleaned up my Basjoos this year I found green bananas still on them.I also left my Ice Cream and Black Thia's unprotected this year and they are doing great pushing up new pups.Two large stalks of my Black Thia survived with no protection and pushing out new leaves which really surprises me.

thanks! thats awesome you had that luck in your zone. We had a mild winter also but still some days that would put and end to some of the types you have. My basjoo got no protection and came back just fine. I wish I did a better job saving some stem but oh well live and learn.
