Does anyone know where I can find a Musa Sikkimensis and Musa Basjoo banana tree online or in Northern Illinois?
~I'm sure they will survive here when given heavy winter protection. Am I right?
I have a large bed next to my pool, it is sheltered from north and west winds. I'm considering planting these bananas as well as a few hardy palms. I will go through any winter protecting to see some of these guys in my garden.
Here are some of my candidates:
Musa Basjoo
Musa Sikkimensis
Canna
Chinese fan Palm (as a die-back perrenial)
Trachy species
Washingtonia filifera
*Trying to get something different than the sabal minor or needle palm*
