Bamboo Question

What would be the best larger Phyllostachys bamboo variety to plant here in z6? If there was topkill, would the culm come back bigger or stay the same size as it was when killed back? What about the Anderson clone Moso, Isnt it supposed to do well in cold climates?

Moso disappoints many. Some less fussy cold-hardy boos: Phyllostachys vivax, Phyllostachys nigra 'henon', Phyllostachys rubro, Phyllostachys viridis, Phyllostachys dulcis, Phyllostachys parvifolia, and probably some others. I'm not saying , not to try moso. But there are others out there that will size up faster in most conditions.

For size and -5F hardiness, rubro looks pretty good:
