I'd say NO way. How shredded did the chipper get the boo? The roots/rhizomes would have to somehow manage to have a viable bud on the rhizome and get buried enough to avoid drying out. I'd say buy a lottery ticket...cause you'll hit the number first :-D

Someone will chime in with a story that will blow my theory out of the water. :-D

Despite its reputation, bamboo is not like other plants that can regenerate from fragments. Running bamboo can generally only be propagated from a decent size piece of rhizome (root)...not from any of the aboveground parts. If it were so easy to propagate, those of us who like bamboo would be very happy. If you have bamboo regenerating from something that comes out of your chipper, I'll get on a plane to visit so I can document this miracle.

If it is realy bamboo I would say no chance. For example they chip the thinnings from the groves at WSU and use it as mulch.

But, if it is what they call "bamboo" in Eastern Washington, Japanese Knotweed, there is a good chance it will take root.

Because the rhizomes can travel a distance almost equal to their height underground and out of sight you may need to trench between your pond and the bamboo or put a hard barrier between them.
As for using the shredded waste as mulch you will have no problems,it's dead.
