I'm always looking for ways to help me i.d. bamboo, and I happened to notice when comparing some of my Phyllostachys right now that emerging leaves on some bamboo extend out as straight tubes and then unfurl, while others are definitely spiraled. Have any of you noticed this difference, and do you know if either of these characteristics is consistently true for any particular species? Or am I hallucinating again?
