Nice pictures sorry I can't help you, maybe somebody will help you

Perhaps Chusquea gigantea. It has a single large branch and many small branches at each node. The culms at maturity are about 2 inches in diameter with 5x1/2 inch leaves.

Thanks But i looked up Chusquea Gigantea and i can't find it on the internet.also i put another pic up too.can you send a pic of that one so i can try to match it up

aaaaaaa1 - My suggestion is to focus on the Bambusa genus, in particular, it may well be Bambusa Tuldoides Ventricosa aka. Buddha Belly. Ignore the fact that there are no bellies, this is a very unreliable ID characteristic.

It may be a different Bambusa species but since 'the belly' is so very common it is a likely suspect. The shoot, branching, and culm form/coloration all look right for the belly.

thats very weird that is no bellys. some or most of them are yellow and no stripes and some of them are green.so are you sure it is Tuldoides Ventricosa.because i look at bamboo web pics.and saw nothing like the one i took pics of. if i knew for sure what it is.Wish i realy know for sure. not realy good at this.thanks very much for helping me.this is very confusing to me.

No, I'm not at all sure. The plain old belly will not have stripes, often does not belly, and the culms turn a yellow tint after they age a little bit. It also will have one branch much longer than the others.

Look at the recent post here about Tuldoides and compare that shoot to your shoot. Fred G thinks that one is indeed Tuldoides, and the 'current' species name for the common buddha is Tuldoides Ventricosa and your shoot certainly looks like a Tuldoides cultivar. The Ventricosa is just a guess because in my experience it is an extremely common bamboo - the Aurea of the tropicals!

HOOSIER52--It does look like it in the forum.is there a way to be 100% sure.should i dig some up from the bottom and take a photo of that.should i take more pictures of some other parts of the bamboo.would that help you more if i take more photo shots.tell me what will help you better.KUDZU9---i looked at the collection of pictures on bamboo web.info thought most of the pictures dont match up.thanks for letting me know.

I really don't think that you'll be able to get a more definitive ID via the forum, it is just too hard to do from photos of juvenile bamboo. Unless yours someday starts to show bellies, I think that you should accept that you have a Bambusa, most likely a Tuldoides cultivar.

Your best bet is to try to find some experienced grower in your area that can see it firsthand. Even then, it maynot be a positive ID!

I have at least 3 species that I have been unable to have ID'd and I may never know for sure.
