Hi, some more info, the seed was collected at low alt in Mexico, ( tropical herbaceous bamboo) was around 6/7 feet tall with round dark coloured fruit.

I have no idea what this needs in respect of growing conditions( The Uk might be a tad cold ???) but any help would be of welcome.

Studying the local distribution and Judziewicz/Clark bamboo book the name might be Olyra latifolia.

I have some more picts if thats af help...

Many thanks...

I think the tricky part is that it's not a true bamboo as we think of them in this forum. If it has fruits and the leaves are attached directly to the stem, it may well be what the American Bamboo book refers to as "herbaceous bamboo," but that's beyond my limited knowledge.

JMO...it looks like a reed grass of some sort. Maybe post a pic on the "Ornamental grass" forum and see what happens.
