Hey Linda

Last year you ordered bulk seed for Echinacea,I think you said you had 8 out of 9 that grew well for you.

Can you post a picture of them please, and where you ordered your seed?

Are you REALLY pleased with the way they look?

I have a large area I would like to cover in them,oh, did you WS them in pots,or direct?

What colors did you get?

Thaks Linda,

cAROL - right now they just look like young plants. I don't expect blooms until next year. They are about 4 -6 inches tall now.

I'm not sure whether I will like the look of them all as well as I like the regular E. purpurea - but each variety has differences in how they grow. Some form fibrous toot mats, other form deep tap foots.

I got them from Horizon Herb. Link below. I WSed them in my trays with 3 inch pot set-up.

I spaced out and wrote: Some form fibrous toot mats, other form deep tap foots"

That should have been "root mats" and "tap roots" - though "toot mats" and "tap foots" sound pretty cool too!

For what it sounds like you want, Carol, the E purpurea varieties at Swallowtail seed might suit you better.

Taking this off topic, because the newer cultivars can't be grown from seed, you have to buy plants or plugs, but have you seen some of them? I have too many purple coneflowers, and lusting for some new ones. I have to treat myself occasionally.

The only new one I've bought this year is Hot Papaya, and I'm in love

It's really nice to see a picture of them growing together.
This is what I want to do.

I have a huge spot, now housing Goose Neck( do not ever grow this, yikkkkkkkkkkkkkkes)My neighbor gave me 14 plants about 3-4 years ago, now, it is taking over EVERY THING! It HAS to go.
So, I will be getting rid of it this year, and hoping by spring, I can fill the area with Echinacea,of all kinds.
I can order them wholesale, but have to order 30 of each, there are 4 or 5 I really want ( really want them all, but,$$$$.stops me from doing so.
I could try my hand at seed, I did pretty good the last 2 years,WSing, but I have never grown E. from seed, and I would like some color right away.
I would like to show you where I want to do this, but do not know how to post pictures.
I can mail it to one of you, if you would like to post it for me??
    I need help,seriously,Seriously! :0)
    What is your opinion?

Carol, it's not hard to post pics, honest. I'm a true computer idiot and I do it.

First, you need to open an account at some online photo site. I have a free one from photobucket, but there are other free ones, too.
