You will be out of luck I am afraid, it takes a while for the flower tomature to bear fruit, I lost mine already in flowered in August, got cold enough to kill in Late OCT. Here's the really bad part, once a banana plant flowers it dies even if the flower does not produce fruit, just sending out the Flag, which is the flower is the cycle to end the mother plants life. Hopefully the mother sent out babies before flowering1

I have same in Palm Springs and a lovely batch of banana has just appeared in early December from a giant purple flower. Phoenixryan, in addition to the X-mas lights did you cover or wrap your tree to keep the heat in? I’m thinking we need to do this just on nights that may fall to 28F; light frost.

Mine just produced a flower. I’m going to try and keep it warm with a plastic cover and a portable heater at nights. I hope that I can keep it alive until we get fruit. I live in SoCal, anc it’s a raja puri.

I live in Southern California too. I‘ve waiting 3 years for my banana plant to flower. This morning, I noticed the pre-flag leaf. I’m scared that my plant won’t make it through this winter 😞

Even if the upper plant dies back from the cold, you will get new pups coming up in the spring. Ours always seems to produce the bananas just prior to December and then is killed back. But new pups await...
