bog or swamp ideas?

I have a swamp or bog- I'm not sure which. It is situated between my natural pond and dense evergreen woods. It gets full sunlight and dries up only in drought. Otherwise, it has between 4" of water to just being muddy from spring to fall. I want to do something to this to make it more attractive and I'm having a lot of trouble finding good plans or suggestions. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Wait!!!
Where are you. It sounds like a vernal pool.
Vernal pools are very cool and often have endemic plants
that will grow only there.
Do check it out carefully and try and id or image the
plant life. Hope it has not been plowed or anything!!
