Well Worth The Wait

Three winters ago, in my first winter of WSing, I tried various Echinacea seed. After a long wait this year I was rewarded with four clumps with totally differen flowers in each clump, and each was fun to see what they were going to become. As I said in my subject, they were well worth the wait, and yes, WSing does work! Thanks, Trudi!

That's wonderful! I love coneflowers and can't imagine a garden without them. From WS a few will bloom their first year from seed but generally they bloom the second year with many flowers, the third year is eye-candy, and by the fourth year they may need to be divided ;-)

I have several echinacea here, all from seeds that I WSed or those plants reseeded. In the winter I don't cut the bud stalks down but leave them in place for the finches to come and eat the coneflower seeds.

Unfortunately with this summer being so incredibly hot, I was a bad plant mother - my babies are being forced to live on mostly whatever rain Mother Nature sent their way. I didn't get pictures of the blooms but the birds will be enjoying whatever seed does get created. Next summer I will take pictures!
