Hi Brad, I think that container, as long as you had 3-4" depth of soil would be great. If the lid is translucent with plenty of holes it might be ok.

Brad, this past sowing season I used this type of plastic container to spring sow. Mostly I used smaller ones as they are easier for me to carry. I put holes in the bottoms for drainage and holes in the clear tops then planted my seed in small nursery pots and put the pots into the containers. Those without tops were put into large clear plastic bags which had holes poked in them. I used bags larger that the container so I could just put the extra under the container which did away with using rubber bands to keep the bag on, Rubber bands have a tendency to break. You could just plant in the plastic container. I liked using individual pots so I could plant many varieties and some things that I wanted just one or two plants. Also I could move plants out as they germinated and grew at different rates.

It's is my understanding that the plastic swimming pools are used to water containers from the bottom, not for sowing seeds.

I use this underbed storage box (holes drilled in top and bottom) for flowers in yogurt cups. It works OK, but keeping moist enough is a problem in spring with warm weather.

I use it now because it's there. I like milk jugs much better, though.

I use them alot with Styrofoam cups, 4" nursery pots, paper pots and also the deeper cell packs. I like them - keeps things neater for me. I still use mik jugs for HOS.....

Brad, I used them like Bobbie did. The best part was being able to move the whole container at one time, not each pot. I used styrofoam cups. Sometimes it gets to warm for them, and they need to be moved to a shadier spot. Mine didn't have a clear top, so I cut a large area out of the top, and put a clear plastic bag over the container, punched holes in the plastic, and used the top to hold the plactic down.

I've been using the exclusively for 4 or 5 years. Some of the containers I've had since I started WSing. If you look closely you can see that I use both cups and bulk soil in them. I use a 1/4" drill bit for holes in tops and bottoms and I usually add a 1/2" hole on the side for good air flow.
