Time for: What I will do differently this year...

I learned soooo much this year. Here's what I will change for next year:

1. I will only use bubble paint to mark my containers

2. I will NOT take off the tops completely (some got water logged) I will only cut more slits/holes in the sides for ventilation when it gets warmer

3. I will NOT grow flowers that I don't really care for just because I have seeds and I will RESIST the flowers that only want lots of sun (I have much shade)

4. I will get my containers ready (except the name of the seed on it) before the end of the year to make Feb easier.

5. I will only use large styrofoam cups to pot up because they're easier to write the name of the plant on the lip of the cup with a marker. (Not to mention they're really cheap)

6. I will not make as much of a mess in the garage storing all the necessary items so DH doesn't give me that look.

7. I will make a concerted effort to save more seeds at the end of the season next year to give back!!!

8. I will let Ollie (golden retriever) pee on a few of my plants and not get too upset.

    1. I will be more organized with regards to recordkeeping.
    2. I will try not to be so impatient once the winter breaks...ha!
    3. I will make time to WS at least a couple of containers every day (it helps with my seasonal 'blahs').
    4. I will keep my expectations reasonable, instead of driving myself nuts when certain varieties are duds.
    5. I will remember to give thanks for the wonders of nature, and the ability to actively enjoy it!

    Great topic!

I will winter sow some self seeders as I found out that they don't always self seed. No cosmos or hummingbird sage this year, two of my favorites.

    1. I will take as much care of the plants once they're in the yard as I did with the babies in the milk jugs. (had so little rain this year - I let everything fry by July!)

    2. I will try to be more patient.

    3. I will REMOVE the caps from my milk jugs before storing them. (Pee-eww!)

    4. I will plant out all my containers by the end of June. (I still have some dianthus, Siberian iris, and heuchera in containers.)

    5. I will plant my baby annuals closer together this year so they make more of an impact.

I will will will clearout sections of the gardens that I have never liked much early in the spring so that there is room instead for new plants that I love.

I will WS a bit less and direct sow a bit more (especially zinnias)

I will look for nice large containers all year long to find them on sale. I really enjoyed container gardening with many annuals this year and I want MORE (and the really big ones are so expensive)

I will remember to call the people who said they want to "watch me do it" when I have a Saturday WS day.

I will plant severl milk jugs of the same seed so I can have a large area of color, instead of hundreds of plants with all differnt colors.
I will rip out all the plants that I didn't really like.
I will try better this year to keep my gardens weeded better
I will ws at leaset 10 MJs each day to keep from stressing
I will gather more seeds next year
I will plant more annuals this year for my containers
I will get my veg, garden seeds planted early so they will be a good size to plant out.I will try new vegetables this year.

I will get my raised beds installed for the veggies that I will ws.
I will LABEL my jugs instead of just guessing (in my defense I only did about 10 jugs last spring-- this will be my first year with a lot of jugs)
I will get the plants I already have moved in fall so I have room in spring for the ones I will really love.
I will find a way to make it all make sense... its kind of mish mashed right now.
I will have beautiful gardens by this time next year ;)

    1. I will not experiment with various juice bottles and will use milk jugs only.

    1. I will stick to my "seed plan" and not give in to the temptation of new seed packets beckoning me from store shelves, lol!

I will try winter sowing for the first time this year instead of trying to start seeds indoors.

I will plant more carrots so there will be enough for us and for the dog.

I am diggng through my seeds to see which ones are wintersow so they don't get lost in the box and missed.

I will continue to dig up softened clay and add organic material to it for the veggie beds so I'm in good shape come spring.

I too will start the tomatoes early enough that I can top them and have prime plants for the garden.

I will not let "life" get in the way and prevent me from winter sowing this winter.

    :(

I'm with you, Carolyn - I will sow even MORE stuff this year (got a couple of years to make up - and more yard to fill!)
