Well, let's see what the pros say. I think that bulbs are like bears. They should be big and fat before they hibernate for the winter. Doubt you could fatten it up before it goes dormant.

Is there any chance you could pamper it this winter and fatten it up?? There's little chance a skimpy tiny bulb will reward you with blooms, which is one of the reasons for forcing dormancy.

If it were me (and it's not!)...I'd clean her up, give her some great new medium, and treat her like a princess all winter...and see what that does. If you religate her to the cellar, you might just find a dried out shell of papery brown skin when you go to retrieve her. Go for the "princess treatment"...

I agree with Kristi... un-pot her, clean her up, shake all of the old soil from her roots, give her fresh medium and a pot... both with good drainage... and treat her well all winter. Make sure she gets plenty of sun from a sunny window, only water her when her medium is dry, and feed her a liquid fertilizer at half strength every time you water.

It may take a season or two for her to gain some size and the energy required to bloom well, but it will be worth the patience and care once she opens her next set of flowers!
