Most Werauhia will only get one pup .
When young they can have hair pups like Alcantarea .
They usually set lots of seed .
Seeds are usually available . I have had many set tons of seed .

Welcome to our friendly forum and it's good to see the Phillipines represented once again. We do have another member from your country called "red.barrister" but they haven't posted for a while, so I don't know if they're still around or not. I remember they did say there weren't too many brom's or brom. growers in their area so it may be worth sending an email to establish contact. If you type "red.barrister" into the search engine at the top of this page and bring up an old post you will be able to send an email through that (I think).

I have no experience with Werauhias sanguinolenta or any adult Werauhia plants for that matter, but I do know the seed from Werauhia kupperiana readily germinates and grows (although slowly for me).

If however, you have a spare plant which has flowered, it may be worthwhile trying the "bromadams method" as mentioned in this past post "More gruberi pups? Posted by paul_t23 Coastal Sydney on Wed, Feb 10, 10 at 2:53."

thanks for sharing that info to me. i will try that "bromadam method" first thing in the morning :)i will try to get in touch with red barrister. One reason he/she is not posting anymore is that because bromeliads have become a thing in the past here in the Philippines. there are still a few collectors but its not a "craze" as it was in the 90s or even in the early 2000s. most collectors here have shifted to collecting ferns and palms. i am hoping that bromeliads would be "in" here again. introducing new varieties could trigger a second run for the broms here..

I don't know if this will work but if you don't want to grow out the seed you should cut the flower spike off to let the plant put all of its energy into producing pups.

Some prills of osmocote or other slow release fertiliser placed in each leaf axis may trigger production of more pups.

i think i will first try to see if i could grow out the seeds and putting osmocote in each leaf axis and see what the results would yield. thanks for the advice.

we used to get broms from michael and tropiflora way back in the 90s. i think i will try to contact them again but i am more interested with the foliage vriesea especially those from new zealand kiwi series.. any one here who knows how to get them? i tried sending message to Mr. Andrew maloy (hope i got that correct) but he said they dont send plants outside new zealand.. i am also interested with the hybrids of John Arden. does anyone know how to contact him? thanks

hello guys. i searched for my old posts in the forum and stumbled upon this post. thanks for the mention. i had been away for work outside the country the last three years and had not been able to post anything here. i just got back recently for a longer vacation and i had some time tending to the garden.

i also have two pieces of Werauhias since i got them four or five years ago and up to now i still have two though they have flowered and changed pup this past years producing only one each to replace the old mother. have you guys had any success on producing more pups...
