Just leave your Zinnias on the plant and once they turn brown, let them go again for a couple of days and they should be ready. I live in Nova Scotia and just collected my first Zinnia seeds - Red Profusion - so yours should be ripening soon.

As per the Dahlias, things are getting cool and the plants are 'feeling' it. I may take mine out this weekend just to get ahead a bit, even though there's been no frost here yet. I just need the holding bed where they were planted this year for things I am overwintering in pots outside. My neighbour took her's out a week ago and she's been growing them for years so I figure she knows what she's doing. She said that as long as the plants look like they are feeling the change in weather, it's OK.

Don't know about the SP Vine or the 4 O'clocks though...

Thank you Tiffy! I got so caught up this weekend that I didnt get a round tuit anyway. But I DID get some bulbs in the ground, with some compost and mulched!! Woot!
I not only have turned into a WS'ing junkie, but also a Seed snatcher [I have even DREAMT about snatching seeds!!]and a compost whacko!
You guys are NOT good for me!! LOL!
But hey, at least gardening is a Good addiction!

I just rip the 4 o'clocks out - after I've dutifully collected all the seeds of course. They winter sow just fine.

If you would like to save the sweet potatoe vine. It will live in the house. cut it back and place in a window. I did mine last year... Barb
