Bar support

I love the design of the bar and what looks like wood block support instead of the typical knee wall. I want to know more about this so I can share with my granite fabricator and cabinet maker. What is the support made of? how many inches deep is the granite bar? How many inches deep (past a range depth of 26 inches) does the lower counter need to be in order to offer enough space for the support?
I would really love to incorporate this in my kitchen, it's absolutely stunning!

You can use any wood blocks to support your countertop, as long as the block can be secured to the main counter. I would estimate this bar at 24 to 26" deep. I would think that you could use an estimate of 4.5" past the range depth for mounting. Remember everything is mounted from the floor for support. On top of the blocks a metal plate can be used to give structural strength and support the upper granite bar.

Thank you! Also, is the wood support wrapped in granite?? (it doesn't look like it to me, but my designer is insisting that it is) Does it need to be?

I would guess that it is not wrapped in Granite. You could use a stain and glaze to match the granite in hue and color and not use granite.
