Is that the one that offers the tomato seeds? I got a lot of nice maters and some herb seeds from them this fall.

Speaking of free seeds, I have to go through my seeds and sort out what I'm going to winter sow and plant in the spring. I still have seeds from this past spring that I never got around to planting. If any of you all are up for a hodge pog of seeds let me know. I couldn't tell you what they'll be or how many of each variety, annuals, perennials, vines, trees, etc.... Some will be whole seed heads or contain chaff because I get sick and tired of cleaning seeds after a while. I'll just need postage, maybe a padded envelope (not sure how many I have) and your address. I'm going to try my best to get the seeds sorted over the next week or two.

I winter sow too. It is great fun. I have more seeds than I can ever possibly use and, like Karyn will be sorting them in the next few weeks and offering them up for SASBE if anyone is interested.

What seeds are they offering Theresa?

Barry, you don't get a choice. No Brugs! You'll get seeds appropriate for wintersowing. It's different all the time. I've gotten some nice basic ones.
    Hollyhock
    Malva Zebrina
    A lettuce
A tomato with literature on how to grow this tomato in a container.
    Nicotania
    Butterfly Bush
    Aquilegia
    Monarda
What do you have to lose? If anything you'll probably get addicted to wintersowing.LOL

I have a packet of Nicotiana seeds. I think I will do those for my winter sowing thing and see how it goes. I sent some to Mike too I believe in his Secret Santa pack.

winter sow outside, right? lol I haven't made my beds yet, everything is going to change.

Barry, You use plastic containers, milk jugs,2 liter soda bottles, etc. It makes like a little mini greenhouse. Plant out in beds when weather is warm enough. It sounds far-fetched,but it works in spades.NO DAMP-OFF,HARDENING-OFF & BEST OF ALL NO BUGS!!!!:^)Can you tell I'm excited about this?!Check it out!

Winter sowing is great! I tried it for the first time last winter and was shocked at how successful it was. It saves so much time and space and like Theresa said the seedlings are so healthy. The only thing that I'll do differently this year will be to plant way fewer seeds. A lot of my extra seeds are good for winter sowing : )

Great, I can see where winter sow will be beneficial for long to flower perennials, to get them to flower the first year, hollyhocks, delphinium, etc..

I sowed 15 milk jugs so far today with 3,4 & 6 types of seeds in each one.I brought everything in and sat at my kitchen table.BRRRRRRRR!Now to go cut off all my brug leaves!:(

Barry WS won't give you a head start on growth because the seeds will germinate when they're ready but they will be healthy, strong seedlings. If you want to increase your growing season you'll still need to start them early inside.

gee8ch: I've got a ton of stuff. When I have them sorted and packaged I'll put up a list and hollar at you. If there is anything special you're looking for, send me your wants.I just might have it and if so, more than happy to share.

Winter sowing gives you tons of plants for pennies. The only downside is the containers sitting around outside throughout the winter until spring and the neighbors thinking you're nutso. Like Karyn said, the plants are very hardy, already hardened off and it protects the seeds better than direct sowing. Trudi has posted tons of info on wintersown.org and the wintersowing forum. The folks over there are awesome and great enablers... much like y'all! LOL.

Hey you guys, Karyn and Neonposey. I want some of your free seeds. I would really like some larkspurs, poppies, and anything else that's really easy to grow. Does anyone have any bluebonnet seeds to share?

I think I'm going to order a whole pound of bluebonnets so that doesn't really matter. If ya'll have anything that blooms and isn't too fussy I'd like some seeds.

    Thanks for the offer. Marian

I have one pack of bluebonnet seeds I can send you Marian. Send me an email so I will remember to get them out for you.
