Will Tidy Cat Jugs work

I have started saving Tidy Cats Jugs they are milky color. Will they work for winter sowing?

I saved my cat litter jug which is clear like a milk jug. I'm planning on using it. Its just like a supersized milk jug so I don't see why you couldn't but what do you consider "milky?"

YES, they are my favorite! I used them last year and have been saving them all summer. they are nice and strong and big...

I even cut the whole top off then shove into the bottom. Then I saved a bunch of them from last year. I also cut holes in the container but this year I might just leave off the cap...

    They are the BEST!!

Okay, I've got 2 male indoor cats, plenty of these + plenty of potting mix but it looks like yours are all set out in a sunny area. Don't they need to be kept up off the ground and someplace where they get minimal sun? Color me WSConfused.

Last year was my first WS, and I had jugs that were half shaded. I noticed that the half of the jug that was shaded had great sprouts, and the half in the sun had nothing. As such, this year I'm putting all jugs in total shade, until just before planting.

It's AWESOME that this science experiment is less then expensive!!

Mine did awsome in the sun... that area does get some shade as well. I moved them to the back of the house not too long after that picture. My area gets real cold and most of the time they had snow all around them and frozen solid. I had sprouts in almost all my containers. Must have been beginners luck :) Plus when it got real sunny I stuck those chairs in the pic over top of the containers.

I think others had success in sun too. Just as long as the babies don't fry. then again we did not get over freezing most of last winter and I think those jugs were real cold.

I had good luck in sun and shade. The ones in the shade were slower to germinate, but in morning sun, I had the best results. Those off the ground actually warmed slower than those on the concrete.

Up here in the north winter exposure doesn't make any difference. Sun or shade, they're frozen and sleeping anyway. It's in spring, when the weather warms, that full sun can dry them quickly. They need more watching. I keep mine in morning sun.

Thank you for confirming that these containers are good and the pic. I will continue to save them.

Those pics have inspired me now. I can't wait to see the sweet little seedlings popping up. It will be a long wait, though, but it's so worth it!
