what is this??

Hi Everyone, I bought this as Lemon/Lime, but am not sure that it is. It is a pale yellow with 2 stripes on each side and it is brushed with a blush pink all over. The flower is 5" across. This was a distressed bulb and the first split scape bloomed very pale, understandably. The second scape has 4 nice flowers with these markings. Could this be a pale Grafiti? I would appreciate any thought you might have. Rebecca, I think I agree, that is is not L/L. I looked up some pictures of L/L and did not see any with these sripes. Thanks,

Donna

My Limona had some markings as did others that were posted here:

Yours has the same markings in the center of the bloom as Limona, but much too much pigment on the petals. My guess...you got a limona-cross.

The edges of the petals look even a smidge like Exotica (the center doesn't look anything like Exotica...), but not marked enough...sigh:

Hi, The center certainly looks like your Limona, maybe mine has more pink pigment because since I got the bulb, about three weeks ago, it has been in a very sunny south facing bay window with sun until about 1:30 in the afternoon. Maybe the sun and heat contributed to the extra pigment(?) or maybe you're correct and it is a cross. Thanks.

My Limona had that much pink on it. It looks exactly like my Limona! I really enjoyed mine and I hope you enjoy yours as much. I posted within the past month some pics with Limona and Exotica and Antactica, if you want to look back to find them. And yes, Exotica and Limona are in the same tones but Exotica has a lot more of the salmon pink over the green. THe center is also much darker on Exotica. THey are both beautiful.

Your mislabeled Lemon Lime is a Limona. Where did this come from?

There is TOO MUCH mislabelings this year.

I am enjoying my Limona, this morning I took some pictures in filtered morning sun and we couldn't believe how Yellow it was! The camara didn't lie, I had the plant 7 feet from my computer picture and it was the same color!
Lizalily, I love your Antartica! I rememember when I saw the pictures you posted that I made a mental note to try and fine that one next year! Maria, I got the mislabeled bulb on Ebay and the bulb was sold by a vender that was selling for McClure and Zimmerman. I did send a complaint because the bulb was severely rotting but I pealed off 3 layers of the bulb and scooped out with a spoon the rotten parts of the basil plate and dusted with captan. Never heard from the vendor but I love the flower anyway. Already this year I have two faux Papilio (Giraffe), a mislabeled bulb from Ebay again, faux Rainbow (a generic red), and the mislabeled lemon/lime! The not Rainbow really annoyes me but the rest I can live with. I'm sure there will be many more! This IS really like a box of chocolates!

Maybe we should start a thread like a "poll" thing of mislabeled bulbs and their sources. It might help WAKE them up and give us buying/paying customers some attention that we so deserve.

I am very busy to do this though. Perhaps Jodi or Kristi can???

Donna, your comment about the box of chocolates was really a "laugh out loud" - thanks for that! I love your Limona. I know it wasn't what you were expecting but it sure is pretty. I bought a late season Limona from S&H in the mall around last Feb and it didn't bloom (probably already had in the bin in the store). Now I'm really looking forward to seeing it this spring - if it was labeled correctly!

Donna, My Antarcticas came from ColorBlends. THe prices were good, their bulbs are some of the best I get each year, and even though their varieties are limited they are always very nice. I wrote them and told them how much I Liked Antarctica and I got a real nice note back thanking me for the feedback.

I've been fortunate this year, to not experience many mislabeled bulbs thus far. So far just Tosca from Royal Colors (sent to Denver Ryan) and Rembrandt van Rijn from Willow Creek/Easy to Grow (sent to Kristi). Both companies have offered replacements without any argument.

More than likely, the WC/ETG mislabel was done at the supplier, as Kristi believes it is a President Johnson, which WC/ETG doesn't offer.

So far bulbs ordered from American Meadows, Van Engelen, Colorblends and ironically Home Depot have all been labeled correct thus far. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself! LOL

HI EVERYONE! I will post just one more picture of my Limona in a Family photo. See how she just shines! She seems to get more yellow as she ages and the blush pink gets stronger also. Her siblings are Candy Floss, Little Pasadena and my Not Rainbow=Generic Red.
