Hi HDD I am hoping it will expand more. Tropicbreezent it is on the east side of my property where it gets sun for at least 6 hrs

LOVE THIS! And it keeps its vibrant color when placed in the sun...from what I read...not just then during a bloom. Seriously considering this for my naturally split coconut shell pot!

Can these be raised without soil?

Yes cadillac...many bromeliads grow without soil

Yay! Thanks...I seen the seller offered a soil mix...for them. Do you use unmilled spagnum moss or just go natural without anything at the base/root area...and can you trim the roots back as the other air plant I have?

Hi Cadillactaste the fireball was adhered to wood using fishing line and some damp sphagnum moss, you do not have to use moss but I find the roots attached more quickly with the moss. I sometimes just stick them in a crevice of a tree and they do quite well. the roots system is small so I do not think you will need to trim it.

I may add some sphagnum moss since there is a slight split on the other side...reqd they do better if you have it at the roots. I keep going back to your photo (screen shot) I may just may go with the solid red as yours...for the bold look. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
