Wow! Those are gorgeous, and the photography doesn't hurt them either:) Thanks for sharing!

BEE-OO-TI-FUL, Rian! Love the smell-less pix of it! =) Fabulous shots...especially the one where I can see its DNA! :D

Hi,
what a pretty flower, I have never had one of theses...
I always hear about the smell...I don't know, what does it smell like??? I know I have heard when these bloom make sure they are outside....its a very pretty plant and the flower is really pretty.....linda

Wow! that's really unique! I've never seen one of those before but just from the looks of the flower it looks like it wouldn't have a pleasant odor. Thanks for sharing!

Linda and Will,

In the pantheon of stinky plants, this one isn't so stinky, but a Wisteria it isn't.

Ryan,

Those are some wonderful shots - my vote goes to #4, though. Did you use a tripod? Really good macro stuff!

Awesome flower! Love that 4th photo!

Some of those photos make me really dizzy. Good job Beachplants.

Hi thanks to all.

The single flower is not that bad (not great), but another one opens and you need some wind begin you. Seriously, as long as you do not dive into it nose first, you are ok.

Smell of rotten meat. To attract flies and one larvae already there, 3rd pic.

Interestingly these occur naturally around Table Mountain, Cape Town, and it is said to be the first that went to Europe in 1639, called 'Fritillaria crassa' - meaning 'a thick succulent type of lily'....

Glad you like the pics!

To Beachplants The previous pictures you posted were lovely, I enjoyed the
Crassula it was taken so well even the hydathodes were showing, so I knew they were grown well. Norma (Crasulady)

Thanks Norma, I saw your comment and again I would like to thank you, it means something to me, given the inspiration you have been to many on you side of the pond.

Whew! I can smell it from here! You almost spoiled my breakfast, Beach!

Not that strong, shame, comparatively to Stapelia grandiflora x3, not that bad, not jasmine, but...LOL!

Yeah, we keep a Stapelia gigantea inside and those flowers get pretty ripe after a few days in the afternoon sun. Right before the flower dies, it starts to stink up the whole room.

That's not the flower, Ryan.

Funny, that's exactly what my wife said.
