You're absolutely right to be cautious. We had our house built over twenty years ago, and I put accent tiles in the master shower but left the family bathroom with perfectly plain neutral cream tiles. Over the years, it's the bathroom with the accent tiles that got dated. The neutral bathroom went through several different decorating schemes with different window treatments, shower curtains, bath mats, etc. and never did I regret keeping the tilework consistent.

The room won't be boring with plain tile work. You'll be drawing attention to the beauty of the materials, rather than a complicated pattern.

QUESTION, please....

I am doing a small bathroom in a little country cottage; design is shabby chic country french with 10 ft ceiling, alabaster shiplap walls and simple white square tiled shower with glass doors. I want to use just a couple of these sweet accent tiles on each of the 2 walls. How; where; is it a terrible idea?? Please help!
