plantaholic, that is drop-dead gorgeous!! Purple is my favorite color. I wasn't aware that a purple camellia existed.

It is a truely purple camellia, no disappointment. The color is of dark purple when the flower is just about to open. sometimes the flower color can be toward reddish purple after fully open. We know that the flower color can be affected slightly by cultivation.

I have some seedling plants from parentage of Grape Soda. They should flower in 2-3 years.

geez im glad yours turned out purple, mine (the one sole plant that survived) is red as red lol

Buy it only when it is in bloom. I have been disappointed sometimes when buying plants not in bloom yet. And check the return policies!

PS - I saw a Grape Soda several years 10+ ago locally. The shade of purple just did not click for me. The plants however, they all had a virus that was causing yellow splotches on the leaves and that clashed with the bloom colors, too much for my taste. I did want to buy it but eh, I passed.
