Camellia azalea has not been in the USA long - or at least not long enough for growers to be able to get them up and out into the retail market. The difficulty lies in that the plant is a little difficult to grow from rooted cuttings, and most attempts at grafting have been limited as well. For now, it seems that it's greatest potential lies with breeding possibilities. Scions for grafting may be available in the near future while plants may still be quite a long way off on the general retail market.

Nuccio's Nurseries is out of the stock. You should call them to reserve the plant. One time the habitat plants in southern China dropped from 8,000 to 5,000. China forestry dept listed it as No. 1 protected plants at the habitat. Now the nurseries in China have propagated over one million plants. If you are in Southern belt, hot and humid, C. azalea will bloom "almost" year round. I was there visiting 15 camellia regions of China last year.

Depends on how hardy it is. Most wild camellia species are tender, the few hardy ones form the basis for most garden kinds grown in cooler climates.
