a nice red that blooms in late winter is 'don mac'. it has the color and form that you like. has been slow growing for me and only 4.5'tall after several years but is sited in a woodland and likely stressed from root competition for water from the surrounding trees.
this photo is from early march and, depending on the weather, some flowers will open in february.
'lady clare' might be another one to consider.

Check out Camellia Japonica Les Murtaugh. It looks like a double formal pepermint stripe bloom. I think it just has to be my favorite. Ibartoo
