Do you fertilize it??? Maybe after 22 years it needs some micronutrients.

I adore Natal Plums, but the last time I went to a nursery (when I was in the desert) and asked for the best-tasting varietal after mine died when we hit low 20's, the nursery guy looked at me like I had snakes growing out of my eyes. "You can eat them?? I've never heard of anyone doing that!!!"

Natal plums are very drought tolerant and do not like a lot of water, but perhaps you've never given it any water?

The little plums are only edible when fully ripe, when there is no milky white sap inside.

The flowers, in my opinion, have the most wonderful fragrance, like jasmine (perhaps even a little better) although the fragrance is weak, except at night.

Wow, talk about a walk down memory lane! I hadn't realized it's been almost 10 years since they froze out.

I just found a new one a couple of months ago at Home Depot, a Tomlinson . Heavenly flowers but no fruit this year!

They grow effortlessly in zone 10 Southern California, since it has a Mediterranean-like climate. They can almost grow completely on their own like wild plants, without any care and years of neglect.
